Beaumont Park a magnificent park with ornate features, cascades, grottos, steep cliffs and picturesque woodland walks for all the family.
Castle Hill The site was developed as an iron age hill fort, surrounded by defensive ditches and ramparts. In the Middle Ages there was a castle on the hill, of which the well remains. The present tower was built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee of 1897.
Stirley Community Farm Farming and wildlife exist hand-in-hand, with an exciting programme of events. Stirley Community Farm is a 20 minute walk from both Berry Brow and Honley rail station.
Kirklees Light Railway Travel on the little trains for a scenic journey along a 15” narrow-gauge rail through the beautiful South Pennine foothills to Shelley terminus where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Penistone Paramount Films, shows, pantomimes, National Theatre Live screenings and a comedy club too. A great place for all ages. Beautiful plush interior, and an intermission with ice cream, or pre-order drinks from the bar.
Trans Pennine Trail A national coast to coast route for recreation – for walkers, cyclists and in parts horse riders. Have a look at the TPT Central map for routes around the Penistone Line.
Pot House Hamlet So much to do from shopping, farm shop and deli, to petting farm, dog grooming and hair and beauty, and relax in Potting Shed Cafe with a coffee or champagne tea for two.
Experience Barnsley Museum and Discovery Centre An inspiring place for all the family to visit and learn about the history and people of the Barnsley area. See priceless collections, visit Clock Tower Gallery, find out about special events and exhibitions. Berneslai licensed Cafe on-site offers breakfasts and light lunches.
Cooper Gallery Built in 1769, and a public gallery since 1914, now with over 400 items in the permanent collection. This is a vibrant creative-space with a regular programme of touring exhibitions and exciting events. Cafe and relaxing outdoor space, and home to Craft Showcase of works for sale by local and regional artists.
