Tomorrow (Saturday) is Penistone Show, always a good do! Go on the train, it’s only a short walk from Penistone Station! http://penistoneshow.com/ It looks to be a wet one, but nothing a pair of wellies and waterproofs won’t solve!
Excellent coverage in Huddersfield Daily Examiner following yesterday’s celebration event for the completion of the Platform 2 project!
On my way to Sheffield for Samaritans Training. Having been a listening volunteer for Samaritans many years ago, I am looking forward to refreshing my knowledge and skills. In particular I hope to be able to develop my skills to listen to others. Samaritans offers a safe place for you to talk any time you like, in your own way – about whatever’s getting to you. You don’t have to be suicidal.
You can contact Samaritans by ringing 116 123.
Be there for others, Rowena (Community Rail Officer).

Heritage Open Days is England’s biggest festival of history and culture. Every year, over four days in September, thousands of sites across the country invite you in to explore local treasures of every age, style and function, and many special events are held. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.
The local programme has been coordinated by the Kirklees Heritage Open Days Committee and includes 57 sites and events we believe the largest Heritage Open Days programme Kirklees has enjoyed, coordinated across the whole district for the first time.
The national themes this year – Conservation Areas 50th Anniversary, Heritage and Nature, and LGBTQ – are supplemented in Kirklees by a Textile Heritage theme.
