Face Covering Exemptions on trains.

It is a difficult period for us all. We need to look out for each other and wear a face covering if we can to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

The rail industry recognises that people have hidden disabilities, and that some of us are unable to wear a face covering. This can be met with side glances from others. Transpennine Express introduced a Sunflower Lanyard scheme prior to the Covid outbreak.

If you choose to highlight your disability when travelling via rail, you can wear a card stating you are face-covering exempt, due to hidden disabilities such as hearing loss, speech loss, or that you are a vulnerable person, to name a few.

Other train operating company staff such as Northern Rail and Cross Country will be able to identify the Sunflower assist card on their lines.

We want everyone to enjoy rail travel. If you think a lanyard and or card will help you can visit the store here.
