PLP WALK :  Saturday   6th  JULY  2019   “ Another Windmill Walk ! ”

We try to feature a walk each year using the ’Brigg Line’ as this delightful line, running through the rural heart of north Lincolnshire, has a limited Saturdays-only service. It only has 3 direct return services from Sheffield via Brigg to Cleethorpes on Saturdays. It’s an early start for some so make it an enjoyable full day out !

Following public footpaths, firstly around Barnetby village, then cross the railway to head up to Wrawby windmill, the last surviving postmill in the north of England, with views across the Ancholme Valley and Lincolnshire Wolds. After lunch, we’ll head across on public footpaths to the market town of Brigg.

(the mill volunteers are opening it up for us to look around during our lunchstop – donations welcome and souvenir items for sale)

Spend the rest of the afternoon browsing around Brigg with its Heritage Centre (open to 3pm), independent shops, small market, cafés, pubs and riverside  before catching the return train home at1540 calling all stations to Sheffield.

Start: 9.55am  at  BARNETBYstation.

Finish: BRIGG.

Distance:  up to 7  miles .
