A community rail partnership in England is a partnership between Network Rail, the train operating company, local council, organisations such as rail user groups and stakeholders, we are part of the Community Rail Network who are supported by the DfT (Department of Transport). Partnerships work to improve their community lines, stations, and services. Around 3200 volunteers contribute about 250,000 hours of work each year, bringing in approximately £3.4 million extra value to the rail industry.
Penistone Line Partnership is a voluntary organisation which supports and promotes community involvement along the Huddersfield to Sheffield railway line. They draw together train operator Northern, Network Rail, local authorities and users to raise awareness of the railway in the local community. Penistone Line Partnership promote, market, develop ideas and arrange funding for local improvements.
