Loading Events

A free guided linear walk following the River Don valley, viewing Conisbrough castle, crossing a spectacular viaduct, riverside path to Sprotborough, under the A1, into the grounds of Cusworth Hall, to finish at Doncaster station for return trains.

Start: 10.45 am at CONISBROUGH station. Finish: DONCASTER.

Distance: 8 miles.  Leader: Alan Hawley.

Train times –

Depart: Huddersfield 0810 Bus Replacement, Lockwood 0813, Henley 0820, Shepley 0829, Denby Dale 0834, Penistone 0842, Barnsley 0858,

Wombwell 0905, Elsecar 0909, Chapeltown 0915 to arrive Meadowhall 0922 then change here for Conisbrough (1011). Depart: Lincoln 0826, Saxilby 0835, Gainsborough Lea Rd 0846,

Retford 0900, Worksop 0910 to Sheffield 0942 then:

Depart: Sheffield 1005, Meadowhall 1011, Rotherham Cent 1019, Swinton 1030, Mexborough 1033 to CONISBROUGH 1037.

Depart: Doncaster 1035 to CONISBROUGH 1042.

Returning from Doncaster :

TRAIN : several trains each hour depart Doncaster to Meadowhall and Sheffield.

BUS : X78 runs 3 per hour from Doncaster Interchange to Rotherham, Meadowhall and Sheffield. The X19 runs hourly to Barnsley.

 

Organised by Penistone Line Partnership walks leader volunteers, these walks are to encourage the use of train services to visit some of South and West Yorkshire’s finest countryside.

Walks may also take place in North Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Lincolnshire.

Walks are free but train fares apply. Bring along a flask and sandwiches. Wearing suitable clothing and footwear is recommended. Walks are at an easy pace and are carefully planned but you are responsible for your safety.
