Silkstone Common is a small village in Barnsley. The railway station is looked after by Silkstone Care Group who tend the fantastic gardens and station planters creating a welcoming environment. The Station Inn is a real ale serving pub situated next to the station platform, and now has covered outdoor seating, great if you are waiting for the train in the afternoon or evening. A 20-minute walk away is Pothouse Hamlet and Riley’s at the Potting Shed.

Silkstone Common Station
Train journeys to Silkstone Common take 39 minutes from Huddersfield and 37 minutes from Sheffield. All trains are operated by Northern Trains Ltd. Find up to date ticket and timetable information here.
Bus Services
Silkstone Common station is served by an hourly bus service between Penistone and Barnsley (21/21a), notably linking to the nearby village of Silkstone.

Silkstone Care Group
Silkstone Care Group is an established adoption group who look after extensive gardens and planters.
They also litter pick at the station, Silkstone Common, and within Silkstone village.
They have worked with Penistone Men’s Shed, SYMCA, and Penistone Line Partnership.
The group is supported by Northern, and they are members of the Community Rail Network.
Their community remembrance displays are fantastic!
