Andrew Rawlins – Treasurer
With a keen interest in railways, Andrew grew up in Herefordshire and was no stranger to exploring the rail network from an early age. Aberystwyth University followed, where Andrew gained Bachelor of Engineering degree in Software Engineering.
A brief stint at Southampton University in the IT department followed but the call came and Andrew returned to Aberystwyth University and in the following 15 years maintained the central IT infrastructure, contributed to High Performance Computing Wales, managed the computing facilities for the Maths and Physics department – including pioneering work on 3D views of the Sun before managing the data of The National Plant Phenomics Centre.
Life moved on and Andrew moved to Yorkshire, working for a Huddersfield based software company managing the IT infrastructure for a large mobile phone company. Andrew currently works for a global company managing UNIX systems around the world.
In his spare time, Andrew is a driver and steam locomotive instructor on the Corris Railway, Mid-Wales where he has been a volunteer since 2001. Huddersfield is where Andrew met Neil – which has in turn led to assisting with Branch Line Society tours raising funds for charities and other good causes.
Andrew hopes to bring his experiences to the Penistone Line Partnership in order to assist and grow the organisation.
