The birthplace of Rugby League, Huddersfield lies in the Colne Valley at the edge of the Pennines, with impressive architecture and over 1500 listed buildings. Now a thriving university town, with a commercial centre and excellent retail and leisure facilities, the town was known industrially for textile manufacture. The Huddersfield Canal runs through its centre. Enjoy a show at Lawrence Batley Theatre, visit The Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park, or see an exhibition at Huddersfield Art Gallery and view their collections including work by Francis Bacon, L.S.Lowry and Henry Moore.
