Shepley is a rural village that stands on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the South Pennine Hills. It is the home of local arts and crafts, small and medium-sized businesses, and is also the centre of a thriving local community. Cliffe House offers educational days and events during school holidays for children as well as being a catered conference venue. Walk from Shepley station to Stocksmoor, part of the Penistone Line Collection to help visitors discover the beautiful countryside and attractions accessible by train between Huddersfield and Sheffield. Shepley Station
Train journeys to Shepley take 19 minutes from Huddersfield and 56 minutes from Sheffield. All trains are operated by Northern Trains Ltd. Find up to date ticket and timetable information here.
Bus Services
Shepley is served regularly by Denby Darts’ bus services. The nearest bus route is a 4 minute walk along Station Lane (not Station Road) from the station, beginning at a public footbath located opposite the entrance to Platform 1. The bus station is located on Abbey Road at the end of Station Lane. Information on bus services and times can be found here.
Friends of Shepley Station
Friends of Shepley Station aim to create a welcoming atmosphere and provide local information for visitors arriving at Shepley Station. We work to enhance the station with the help of Northern and ISS.
Projects for 2025 include ‘Welcome’ and Local History Boards.
Penistone Line Partnership hopes that recent investment for the line will lead to improved access to Platform 1, and they will be campaigning alongside Huddersfield Penistone Sheffield Rail Users’ Association (HPSRUA) to seek improvements for level access and a half-hourly rail service.
We would love to utilise the old on Lamp Room on Platform 2, potentially creating space for Artwork by local school children and for storing gardening tools.
Our platform planters are refreshed seasonally by the group.
